About Kate

Katelyn Williams is an ice cream maker and recipe creator living in Portland, OR.

Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, Kate moved to Cambridge, MA with her husband in 2013. She launched her first ice cream business, Scoop Sights, making dairy-free ice cream popsicles and selling them out of a tricycle at local farmers markets in the Boston area.

In 2017, Kate and her family moved to Portland, OR and she founded Kate’s Ice Cream in 2019. She wanted to provide for more gluten-free and vegan products to her new city. Kate’s Ice Cream shop is 100% plant-based and gluten-free and is open year round every day, so visit next time you’re in Portland!

Shortly after opening her ice cream business and hearing such amazing reviews on her waffle cones, in 2019 she decided to start selling Kate’s Waffle Cones to ice cream shops in an effort to provide more access to those with allergies and diet restrictions. Everyone should be able to enjoy the classic ice cream shop experience!

When Kate isn’t busy running her two ice cream businesses, you can find her hiking with her family and dog, trying new restaurants, or wine tasting in the Willamette Valley of Oregon!
